Work to create a new standard web design for TC websites is being done this summer and you're invited to learn more about the process and give your input.

Two information sessions this July will introduce the Twin Cities web theme project to the campus. The Office of Information Technology and the Office of University Relations invite interested staff and faculty to hear about the project and how this theme will change the look of TC campus websites.

What is this project about?

The creation of a new base web theme that features predesigned and coded website building blocks (think fonts, colors, navigation, unit branding, buttons, headings, etc.) for websites on, along with guidelines and best practices for their use.

What websites does this apply to and is it required?

All sites on the Twin Cities campus hosted on, regardless of platform (Drupal, Drupal Lite, Wordpress, HTML, etc.) will be able to use this new theme. While it will not be required, it will be highly recommended.

What's the purpose of this project?

To provide the tools for all Twin Cities units to

  • easily combine accessible web components for streamlined site creation,
  • use consistent web design and site behavior in order to improve the website visitor experience on the campus,
  • and save money spent on outside design and development.

Who should attend these sessions?

Communicators, graphic designers, and web developers—or anyone in your unit who wants to learn more about the project and have the opportunity to have input on the theme.

When are the sessions?

Wednesday, July 12, 2:30 to 4:00, 2-215 Carlson School (note room change)

Tuesday, July 18, 1:30 to 3:00, 312 Bruininks Hall

A WebEX link will be provided for those who cannot attend in person.

How can I find out more without attending a session?

All information about the project will be posted on a new website in early July. We will send another message when the site is live.
