Well-managed use of mass email is critical to maintaining recipients' perceptions of the validity and effectiveness of electronic communications.
University Relations works to define mass email requirements, guidelines, tool recommendations, and list sources in collaboration with the Office of Information Technology and units across campus.

Mass Email and Communications Planning
As with all communications, proper planning is essential to ensure the success of mass email. Communicators and others often spend a great deal of time planning and producing print pieces, but the same amount of rigor is sometimes lacking in email communications.
Salesforce Marketing Cloud (was ExactTarget) is the University's mass email tool. With this tool, each mass email will incur a small charge for each email address a message is sent to. This cost, combined with people’s general perception that they receive too much mass email, makes it more important than ever to carefully weigh how we communicate internally.
