Early Issues of Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder Now Available to the Public
The Minnesota Historical Society announced in May that early issues of the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder are now available online in the Minnesota Digital Newspaper Hub.
Issues of the Minneapolis Recorder from 1934 to June 1964 and issues of the St. Paul Recorder from 1934 to 1941 are accessible to the public.
According to the Minnesota Historical Society, the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder is the oldest Black-owned newspaper in the state of Minnesota and one of the longest-standing, family-owned newspapers in the country.
The Minnesota Digital Newspaper Hub is a searchable website that makes millions of pages of Minnesota newspapers available online. The Minnesota Historical Society says The Hub contains geographically and culturally diverse newspapers published between 1849 and today, with new content added regularly
